Summer brings out the best of our days in the kennebunks. Sea breezes moderate the temperature to comfortable levels. Time is measured by how many beach hours you can squeeze in while trying to enjoy all the fairs, festivals, concerts and parades.

Fourth of July is as all-American as you can imagine, topped off with fireworks display at the beach. Gardens burst with color and u-pick farms are ready with strawberries and sweet corn.

Heartwood Fish Art Auction
In a humorous twist on the old "Got Milk?" ads, Heartwood College of Art asks, "Gut Fish?" The college has put a whole new school of unique, artist-designed wooden fish up for bid on the cMarket auction website to raise funds for Heartwood programs. Artists throughout the state of Maine and beyond have designed and created fish in the following categories: Fanciful Fish, Flowery Fish, Factual Fish, Food Fish, Functional Fish, Funny Fish, and Feng Shui Fish. The fish - which include trout, salmon, bass, and the occasional "shiner" - will be auctioned online by cMarket, Inc., a Cambridge, MA organization focused on supporting non-profit organizations. A portion of the proceeds returns to the artists, and the balance goes to support Heartwood College of Art - the undergraduate art program, "Boomer U," community workshops and summer art camps, and the Heartwood Gallery. The online auction runs from February 8 - March 16.
