As you know in the past few years, the Internet has become an increasingly important vehicle for travelers in planning their trips and making reservations. Recent statistics show that almost 50% of travelers use the Internet at some stage in planning their travel. That statistic is expected to continue to increase, demonstrating the importance of the Internet to travel and tourism today. Accordingly, a critical initiative for the Kennebunk-Kennebunkport Chamber of Commerce this year has been the development of a new website that effectively markets the Kennebunks amidst all of the other competitive New England towns and resorts seeking that same traveler. Obviously with the increasing importance of the internet and websites in business today we will continue to invest time, energy and monies into the website and internet marketing. The process must be interactive and ongoing as we learn what new opportunities are available in the marketplace today to better sell our destination and businesses.

The initial redesign activities of the KKCC website took shape with three distinct objectives. The first was to create a website that effectively communicated the unique qualities, activities and charms of the Kennebunks to potential travelers through fantastic pictorials and qualitative narrative. The second was to create a site that had easy navigation for the user; visitors, members and local community members. The last objective was to insure that the site had high visibility on the Internet and was maximized in the search engines.

We are pleased and excited to announce the rollout of our new website and website advertising. Please note the new emphasis on the visual imagery of the area and on the ease of navigation through the site for both visitors and members. The new website provides marketing opportunities for member businesses to spotlight their business on the home page as well as secondary and tertiary pages. It’s an exciting business opportunity that every business can take advantage of!
